Gondola ride in the Grand Canal of Venice, Italy.
Hi, Venice, also known as the City of Water, is comprised of a group of 117 small islands, situated offshore northeastern Italy, and home of the famous San Marco square and many old Gothic and Renaissance buildings. The city basically seems to float in the water and instead of small streets the historic buildings are connected by a maze of narrow canals and lovely bridges.
What the horse carriage (Fiaker) is to the historic center of Vienna, the Gondola is to the "centro storico" of Venice. Other means of transport in Venice are small motorboat taxis and the Vaporetto, a public transportation system of "water buses".
You can book a gondola ride at one of the many embarkation points. The tour lasts about 35 minutes and costs without reservation about 80 to 100 EUR.
Venice is also known as the City of Masks.
