Famous places of Vienna during the March/April shutdown, which were usually crowded with thousands of people and tourists, became empty. The shutdown came into effect on March 16h — the slow phase of reopening the economy started on April 14th and should take almost two months.

Restrictions and mask mandates were reintroduced in late summer 2020. Despite all the efforts, mask wearing and physical distancing, case numbers are sharply increasing accross Europe and we are currently in the middle of a second wave and it is unclear whether a second lockdown will be inevitable. Let's hope it won't be necessary.
